The environmental benefits of the various types of waste glass recycling are assessed in this study compared to the glass life cycle without a collection of waste glass. For this, a glass production from 100% raw materials with a subsequent disposal of waste glass over the municipal waste was defined as the basic scenario. Crucial for the ecological benefit of the various collections and waste glass recycling are the changes brought about with the groupage. The use of glass as scrap in the glass cycle saves energy and raw materials in glass production and replaces conventional building materials when using broken glass for products in the construction sector. Common to all collections and utilization is the avoided disposal of waste glass via municipal waste.
