Tarumitra is a student movement in India with a special performance record. The organisation was founded in Patna and, today, counts 250’000 members. With different actions and studies, Tarumitra calls the attention to ecological drawbacks and proposes potential alternatives to youth. The students get motivated to act against the drawbacks.
In Patna Tarumitra has created a 10 ha organic reservation and an organic farm. The labour for building-up and the operating the organic reservation and farm is mainly achieved at no charge by students. One part of the running costs of Tarumitra is taken over by Caritas Switzerland. Caritas supports Tarumitra in behalf of Caritas for the technical evaluation and the development of new campaign ideas.
