Pollutant investigations at the Klybeckareal Basel

Carrying out investigations into pollution levels in more than 15 buildings on the Klybeck site in Basel. Depending on the building, either demolition or conversion is planned. Apart from the classic building pollutants such as asbestos and PCB/CP, use-related pollutant contamination and odours in the building fabric also played an important role in some of the buildings due to the site’s history as a chemical site. A new sampling and analysis programme with a very low detection limit was developed for individual substance groups in collaboration with an external laboratory partner. In addition to the on-site investigations, archive research and interviews with former employees were also carried out.
