Education centre in Kosovo

In collaboration with the community Gjakova, the diocese Prizren and the ministry of education MEST, Caritas Switzerland has built up a vocational training centre in Gjakova between 2003 and 2007. The bishopric of Basel, the SDC and the Principality of Liechtenstein have financed the project. The training offer included business administration, informatics, agriculture, car’s electronics, electrical installations and vegetable gardening. The sought PPP (public-private partnership) did not stand the test of time because of the differences in ideas and opinions between the project responsible parties. As a consequence, an independent private organisation was created in 2009, which took over the operation of the centre. The direct investment from Switzerland will expire in 2015. Carbotech has supported the development of the training centre and the conversion into a private organisation until the end of 2013.
