In order to understand the environmental impact of its projects as a studio for media architecture, Carbotech was commissioned by iart to conduct a comprehensive life cycle assessment.
Thanks to the great commitment of the employees, it was possible to compile an above-average life cycle assessment. In addition to the “standard categories” (energy consumption, materials, transport, mobility, waste), it was also possible to evaluate other categories such as purchased services, insurance, rent, etc. The employees of iart were involved in the calculation so that an intensive exchange and transfer of knowledge could be achieved.
It was also possible to show what proportion of emissions were caused by the company’s own operations or by installations for customers. In future, this breakdown should help to reduce both iart’s own emissions and those of its projects and thus also those of its customers.
