The Zürcher Theater Spektakel wants to make its festival operations as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. With the life cycle assessment of the 2023 festival and office operations, we have taken the first step together on the path to sustainability.
In a kick-off meeting with the Zürcher Theater Spektakel project team, we created a common understanding of the approach and goal and discussed data collection in particular: which data is relevant and must be collected as accurately as possible, and where are estimates sufficient? We then checked the plausibility of the input data collected by those responsible and, where necessary, filled in data gaps using empirical values from comparable projects. The calculation of the climate and environmental footprint has shown that the Zürcher Theater Spektakel is already exemplary in many areas. However, there is also room for optimisation.
The life cycle assessment serves as the basis for developing concrete measures for a long-term reduction in emissions in the next step. All employees should be brought on board. These processes and a refinement of the balance sheet based on data from the 2024 festival are next on the agenda.
