As there was no PCR (Product Category Rules) for lift systems to determine how to design an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for lift systems, Carbotech and Schindler developed a PCR for lift systems. This document is essentially based on the Life Cycle Assessment Standard (ISO 14’040ff) and the Environmental Labeling Standard (ISO 14’025). On this basis, EPDs for different lift systems were subsequently created. These contain the environmentally relevant information about the entire life cycle of a lift system. This allows Schindler to provide its customers with extensive environmental information about their products. This information is increasingly being sought in the context of building energy and environmental labels or as an ecological basis for construction professionals or builders.
