Audits of WEEE dismantling companies

Waste electrical and electronic equipment/WEEE/e-waste differs i.a. from other wastes, that it consists of many different components. Some of these components are especially valuable – for example, precious metals on printed circuit boards – and another part contains problematic pollutants. In order to recover the recyclables as well as possible and to prevent the spread of pollutants, around 80 dismantling companies in Switzerland are working to break down WEEE into the most important fractions. Swico and the SENS Foundation have commissioned Carbotech AG to audit the cutting plants. The audits ensure that the rules for the protection of the environment and the employees are implemented.
