Investigation of the causes of corrosion

Have you discovered corrosion damage on critical components and suspect a connection with your production processes?
Do you have high maintenance costs because you have to replace certain components frequently, for example on your ventilation system?
Have you noticed inexplicable deposits that presumably lead to loss of form or function of the assembly?

Corrosion refers to the transformation of a material with the loss of the desired material properties. In addition to superficial erosion (e.g. the flaking off of a layer of rust on steel), this often results not only in visually obvious damage, but also in a loss of material and the associated loss of function. Unfortunately, corrosion is often not recognised or considered critical until irreversible damage has already occurred. The first signs often go unnoticed before they reach noticeable dimensions or the material becomes fatigued. Small changes, for example in the process control or the ventilation system, can already initiate the creeping corrosion process.

The cause of corrosion is often in the air and is usually not directly visible: gases or volatile compounds from the environment accumulate on a component and react with it. It is often the combination of several factors that influence each other unfavourably. Corrosion also occurs on components that should actually be very durable.

We investigate the cause of corrosion on damaged components indoors or outdoors by analysing materials and measuring corrosive gases. We also collect information on process changes and structural conditions. In this way, we support you in identifying and eliminating the cause of corrosion and develop a protection concept to prevent future material damage.
