Biodiversity Strategy

Would you like to understand which biodiversity issues are relevant for your company?

Are you planning measures but don’t know which ones to prioritise?

Are you looking for a competent partner who can guide you through the complex topic of biodiversity in an understandable, clear and actionable way?

Companies in all sectors depend on biodiversity and functioning ecosystems. Be it directly through their business activities or along their value chain. For example, the chemical industry requires large quantities of water for its production processes, while the textile industry relies on agricultural raw materials such as cotton from its supply chain. However, the loss of biodiversity is increasing rapidly worldwide and can have significant economic consequences for companies. These include increasing costs or loss of sales due to the scarcity of natural resources as well as reputational risks. In addition, the regulatory requirements for companies are constantly becoming more stringent.

Our services on the topic of biodiversity

Knowledge transfer: We impart in-depth knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystems – customised to your needs. Whether in workshops, lectures or in personal 1:1 discussions.

Analysis: As part of a materiality analysis, we identify the most relevant biodiversity issues for your company. In doing so, we determine the impact of your business activities on the environment, your dependencies on the environment, as well as financial risks and opportunities.

– Strategy: We develop a biodiversity strategy with which your company can generate the greatest possible effect. Based on the results of the materiality analysis, we prioritise the most relevant topics for your company and define clear, measurable goals.

– Measures: We develop measures based on this strategy. These can range from the avoidance of pollutants and the reduction of resource consumption to the regeneration of deforested areas.

– Monitoring and reporting: In order to make the success of the measures quantifiable, we rely on intelligent and long-term monitoring. There are various approaches and tools for this and we will be happy to put you in touch with local implementation partners if required. We also support you in integrating your biodiversity strategy into your sustainability reporting.

Our approach is based on the target-setting process of the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) and the LEAP Framework of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). As part of the materiality analysis, we are guided by the EU CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and the ESRS 4 (European Sustainability Reporting Standard – Biodiversity and Ecosystems)*.
